Journey Inward Mysticaris
Introduction
Mysticaris is an interdisciplinary artistic and esoteric platform exploring transformation through image, symbol, and lived experience. Rooted in archetypal language and intuitive practice, it bridges art and inner work, approaching tarot, painting, and film as tools for perception, reflection, and self-knowledge.
Developed by Amadea H. Ris, Mysticaris functions as both an evolving artistic identity and a symbolic framework. The name itself merges mystic with a reconfiguration of the artist’s own name, forming ARIS — a structural axis within the project:
A — Artist
R — Reaching
I — Into
S — Self
This internal structure reflects the core movement of the work: a continuous process of turning inward through image-making and symbolic exploration.
Rather than imposing fixed meanings, Mysticaris operates through an intuitive, process-led approach in which images reveal their own logic as they unfold. Across media — from painting and tarot to experimental film — the practice engages with archetypal, mythological, and psychological dimensions of transformation, treating symbolism as a lived and embodied language. Its visual and conceptual identity evolves organically, mirroring an ongoing dialogue between personal experience and collective symbolic structures.
Following initial experimentation, a refined equilateral triangle emerged as the emblematic cornerstone of Mysticaris. Within it are rectangular lines that symbolically represent blending of letters A, R, I and S. The only line in the triangle of the Mysticaris logo that is not a part of the letter symbolism is the grounding line that connects all the letters together and completes the triangle.
As the work evolved, the emblem gradually moved beyond its original form, opening into a symbolic language resonant with the Trinity and the principle of Oneness. With this deepening, Mysticaris entered a phase of maturation marked by a quiet unfolding — a symbolic blossoming reflected in the emergence of the Flower of Life, embodying harmony, balance, and interconnectedness. This progression naturally extended into the creation of a bespoke typographic system, drawing subtle influence from the ancient script of Elder Futhark, further anchoring the visual identity within a timeless, archetypal lineage.
BIOGRAPHY
Amadea H. Ris (Mysticaris), born in 1994 in Slovenia, holds a bachelor’s degree in Art Education from the Faculty of Education, and a master’s degree in Painting: Video, Animation, and New Media from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, University of Ljubljana. Her diploma work focused on the research of C.G. Jung and Clarissa Pinkola Estés, informing the development of a unique tarot deck, The Isness Tarot, created using the intuitive technique of Klecksography. In her master’s thesis, The Story as Medicine: Dark Witch, White Shaman, she expanded this inquiry into an autobiographical experimental film that weaves together personal healing, mythology, and spiritual transformation. The film premiered at the Prvi Kadar Film Festival in Sarajevo and was later screened at Kinoteka Ljubljana during the VFX and FEKK festivals.
